soul therapy

I’m relatively new to blogging.  I’ve wondered about how to get traffic to a blog.  In searching I read about a few key things … having new content, using pictures, having searchable titles, and more.  Obviously I haven’t used all the ideas I read about.

And then in my search I ran across two sites:  alphainventions and condron.  At these sites, blogs scroll across the screen allowing a viewer to “see” dozens of updated blogs in just a few minutes … with the hopes that the viewer will find blogs to visit, to comment upon.

Using those two sites mentioned does increase the traffic stats.  I have to admit that seeing those numbers climb is great fun … at first.  But it leaves something of an empty feeling … more about “showy” numbers than about substantive readers.

Those stats … are those about pride?

The road of right living bypasses evil; watch your step and save your life.  First pride, then the crash— the bigger the ego, the harder the fall.   It’s better to live humbly among the poor than to live it up among the rich and famous. ~Proverbs 16:17-19

So … blogging is not so much about the stats.  But why blog?  I can only answer that from personal experience.  Blogging is a kind of soul therapy.  And in January I heard it as something of a challenge.  Audible words spoken … no … but instead, one of those heartfelt challenges.

… This song of soul I struggle to outbear
Through portals of the sense, sublime and whole,
And utter all myself into the air …
~E. B. Browning

I am still learning about the process of blogging … and prayerfully considering the content to share.  One definite purpose … one overarching goal is to honor and glorify my God.

To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.
