your will be done on earth

“Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”

That’s a mighty prayer … and an answered one.  His will … is being … will be done.

Madeleine L’Engle writes, “Heaven is wherever God’s will is being done.  When, occasionally, it is done on earth, then there is heaven.  It is the most difficult thing in the world for most of us to give up directing our own story and turn to the Author.”

God … “do” my life your way … your will be done in my world as it is in heaven …

Henri Nouwen writes, “God always calls.  To hear that call and allow it to guide our actions requires discipline to prevent ourselves from remaining or becoming spiritually deaf.  There are so many voices calling for our attention and so many activities distracting us that a serious effort is necessary if we are to become and remian sensitve to the divine presence in our lives.”

God … “do” my life your way … your will be done in my world as it is in heaven …

Brennan Manning reminds us in this sentence or two … “We presume, however, that trust will ease confusion, dull the pain, redeem the times.  The cloud of witnesses in Hebrews 11 testifies that this is not so. … When all else is unclear, the heart of trust says, ‘Into your hands I commend my spirit.’”

God … “do” my life your way … your will be done in my world as it is in heaven …
